Heather Lake Hike / Granite Falls, WA

My boyfriend, our friend from Canada, and I hiked up to Heather Lake in Granite Falls, WA. We had intended on hiking Mt. Pilchuck but we were moving slow and managed to get a little lost along the way. All happens for a reason right? Well, Heather Lake’s trailhead is before Mt. Pilchuck’s (had no idea it even existed). Thankful it worked out the way it did because it was SOOO beautiful! We ended up hiking beyond the lake and up to the glorious waterfalls. Joe and I were uncomfortably close to one of the icecaves caving in. It collapsed in seconds, letting out a roar and crack that shook the earth. I was terrified. But that’s just nature doing her thing. It’s the hottest time of the year. Do NOT go in the icecaves, no matter how tempting they are! We enjoyed a nice meal on the rocks and basked in the last bits of sunlight that were gleaming over the mountain top. Beautiful day and thrilling adventure, spent with our dear friend from the land up North. I would highly recommend that you check out this hike. :-)
